I'm in rehearsals for "one flew over the cukoos nest" (my high school
doesn't do musicals, lucky for me)...it's already draining me, but that's
what I love about acting...the hard and fun stuff! :) Thanks for asking :)

See headers | congrats on West Side Story!!
I just got an audition request for a west side story run for this summer,
but it's kinda far away, so i think i'm gonna decline...
However...i am singing the part of Tony in the "Tonight Quartet" in a
variety show over valentines day weekend.....I have the warm place in my
heart for West Side Story...first off cuz I'm a GIANT stephen sondheim
fan....and secondly because West Side Story is the show that got me
interested in musical theater to begin with...(i kinda grew up with "Tommy",
but that doesn't really count since it was an unstaged rock opera/movie at
that point)
other than that I'm doing the "Judge" in Gilbert & Sullivan's Trial By Jury
with a small group...that opens friday....and I just got cast as Marcelles
Washburn in "Music Man"....but i have auditions for jesus christ Superstar
in two weeks (i did the role of peter three years ago)...so i may not commit
to the music man....we'll see!

"TOMMY" is one show I would kill to do! Even if I was only in the
background, I love that show and the movie too (VIVA ANN-MARGRET hehhe). -Eric

See headers | yes!! It's a wonderful show... i did the Hawker/The Lover in october '98,
and it was a ton of fun... the reason i said it didn't count before was just
because it hadn't hit broadway yet at the time....therefor hadn't been "made
into a broadway show" although i think it got me exposed to the whole
musical concept because i can remember that even at a young age of 6 or 7 i
thought it was mighty facinating that a bunch of songs could be put together
to tell a story...i've been hooked ever since!

See headers | Well, andy, I just got into my first college show. It's called THE SKRIKER,
by Carrol Churchill. Any1 ever heard of it? Anyway, I was excited b/c I"m
just a freshman. I was up for the lead (that totally had me stoked and
proud), but I didn't get it. Oh well. I felt privelaged to even be
considered. But I did get cast in 3 other parts. So that's cool. Getting
ready for some hard classes. We'll see if I get put on academic probation
(got a 3.08 my 1st semester, so it shouldn't be too bad).

See headers | I'm glad ther's someone else here who doesn't want to get involved with the "discussions" which are going on. I don't happen to be doing anything interesting right now. I'm stage managing the winter play Love, Sex, and the I.R.S. Unfortunately I haven't made many rehersals (I don't need to make every one) so I feel somewhat left out of the loop. Hopefully I'll be able to get to rehersal soon.

See headers | Nancy, ive heard of Once on this island and have even
performed a number for it, but i still know very
little about it. But what i do know about it is its
something about these people on an island ( sorry
thats just like stating the obviouse LOL) and theyre
like folowers of animism i think it is, where you
worship different gods for different things like sun
eath water etc. Theres a gorgeouse duet in it that
ive heard i think its called "You are Mine" or
something. Sorry i wasnt more help

See headers | Re: ONCE ON THIS ISLAND
Once On This Island is about two groups of people on one island. One group
is the peasants, who do worship different gods, while the other group is
the Grand Hommes, the rich people. During a storm, a young peasant girl,
Ti Moune (the lead) is saved, and Mama Euralie & Tonton Julian adopt her.
She grows up, and falls in love with Daniel, a Beauxhomme who is betrothed
to Andrea. When the Gods send Daniel's car spinning, leaving the boy close
to death, Ti Moune nurses him back to health. The two fall in love, blah
blah blah, and Pape Ge ("sly demon of death") reminds Ti Moune of a promise
that she would give her life for his, or something to that effect. Ti
Moune ends up being transformed into a tree. Okay, so it's not the most
eloquent of synopsises (is that even a word?), give me a break, my brain is
pretty dead.
Basically, it's like a Caribbean version of "The Little Mermaid," although
it's really based on a book by Rosa Guy.
You should really get the CD, Nancy - the music is wonderful. The "You are
Mine" song is called "Forever Yours," and is gorgeous. Music is by Stephen
Flaherty, lyrics by Lynn Aherns (the duo behind Ragtime, Lucky Stiff,
Anastasia, etc.) It was originally produced on Broadway in 1990, I think,
and starred LaChanze as Ti Moune.
